"Anti-Bullying Week"

!!WARNING!!
This blog post you are about to read contains fowl language and is not suitable for youth audiences.

Anti-Bullying Week

Now as far as I am aware, there are hundreds of schools just here in Canada who are hosting the event "Anti-Bullying Week." Now I'm not saying that is a bad thing, but I do have some thoughts on the entire issue. Please bare with me here.

Below are some pictures that I have found on the internet via Google image search and therefore take no credit for ANY of the images.

This image you see here is the typical image most people will use to "show their support."
I am not saying that those people do not actually support the cause, but I do believe that there are some people out there that post the image just to "look like a good person." It happens all the time in our society.

You see most people will say "I'm not a bully." But believe it or not, most people don't actually know that they are bullies until it is pointed out to them. The stereotype of "The Bully" is also very horribly misleading.

Most people consider the bully as someone who is either:
A Rich Kid
An abused kid
A troubled kid
A child with "issues"
A child who suffered through a divorce in their parents' relationship
A child who has "the wrong friends"

The list goes on and on, but those are just a few of the main titles people call bullies.

To me personally a bully is just a regular person who is feeling something inside that they want to release. They want someone to feel what they are feeling per say. Now I could be completely wrong in my hypothesis, but this is just my guess.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The largest form of bullying occurs within the media and is fed to young teens and children at home. They will watch videos on YouTube, movies, TV shows, even read things in books. They will take those things that they have seen or read with them to school, and use them against other students or even just someone on the street.

Most people will bully others on how they look, or their sexuality.
These are some images I have found of different individuals.

Every single person looks different from the next. Even twins!
I think that everyone should cherish themselves and call themselves beautiful.

We all have our own style, our own thing, our own way of life.

The best role models out there are those who we call "freaks" those who we clam to be "insane" the stars who will go out of their way just to be different!

Some of those stars are:
Andy Six
Lady Gaga
Adam Lambert
Zachary Quinto
Neil Patrick Harris
T.R. Knight
Lance Bass
Ellen DeGeneres
Chely Wright
Rossie O'Donnell
Jennifer Lawrence

Even this list can go on forever. There are people out there who don't care how different others are.

The image below is a bullying .jpg uploaded by a bullied teen of whom I have no knowledge of.

Naturally I too am a victim of bullying, I do not deny how hard it was and still is for me to endure. But now I am a 21-year-old young woman with younger siblings as well as nieces and nephews who are suffering in what our society was lead to believe the safest place to be.
School.

My youngest brother has just started high school in September, and has been through bullying his entire school life. He is different. He is Autistic.
He is beautiful.

My younger sister is in her last year of elementary school and like our brother, suffers in bullying. The name calling is harsh. She is different. She is young.
She is beautiful.

My oldest nephew is in his second year of high school, and though he refuses to admit it. I know he's being bullied at school. He is different. He is strong.
He is beautiful.

My oldest niece is in a wheelchair, and has been since birth. The name calling doesn't get to her, she loves to smile and show how strong she is. She is different. She is defined.
She is beautiful.

My 10-year-ole niece is in grade 5 and just got her babysitter's licence. She is an amazing girl. She is different. She is inelegant.
She is beautiful.

My 7-year-old nephew just celebrated his birthday, and though he has his issues at school, he remains to smile. He is different. He is tough.
He is beautiful.

I am a woman who has been in a 5-year realationship with the boy I met in high school. He changed my life. I fight each day for me, and live each day for me. I am different. I am mature.
I am beautiful.

My youngest nephew is yet to turn one. He is small and innocent, clean of all sin and above all he is safe. He is different. He is new.
He is beautiful.

We are all different.
We are all beautiful.

My message to you is to not only participate in Anti-Bullying events, but to keep it going every day. Live with a smile, think positive and go about your life.

Help a friend, or a stranger on the street.

Be yourself.

Thank you for your time.
Please pass on this message to your friends and family.
Don't let the next generation suffer.

Panda Scarf

Ever since the dawn on time, my favorite animal has always been
the Giant Panda.

I have lots of Panda items here at home, I'll post pictures of my collection sometime.

But this is a scarf that I'm making, for myself of course.
But if you like it, you can order it from my little business and I'll craft it for you.

How awesome is that?

I can't give you the pattern, because sadly I don't have it with me right now, and it's also rather long. I'm sure you can find it on the internet however, it was a free pattern.

Anyway! Progress pictures!

The eyes came out a little different, but I like them that way.
Also instead of using teddy bear eyes, I used brass buttons to give it that vintage vibe. :)

It's almost fall, so with the season's wonderful colours starting to show, what better way to celebrate than to crochet up a nifty looking scarf like this one!?

This pattern is really simple actually, it was created by the wonderful Lyubava Crochet

September Reading

Here we are in September!
This month I'll be reading "City of Lost Souls" By the beautiful Cassandra Clare!

This is the fifth book in the "Mortal Instruments" series by the way, I strongly suggest if you enjoy fantasy, vampires, warlocks, demons, angels and a good love story about more than just one couple. You take a look at this series!

Don't worry, I won't be upset if you don't like it though, but it's one of my favorites.

I only just started reading this, so I don't have much to say at this point, other than..

Poor Simon!

Anyway, if you have read this novel leave a comment below with your thoughts. But try not to spoil anything!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Totally forgot to tell you guys that I finished this book!
It's completely awesome, and I just want to open a portal into the book!

I can't wait for Cassandra to write more!

August Reading

So I've decided that I'm going to TRY to read one book a month,
at least!

This month's book is called "Fiend" by the AMAZING
Peter Stenson.

Check out the first page!

I am totally loving this book, just the way it's written has you thinking about things in a totally different way. Now before you jump into the pages, you have to know... that this is the story of Meth addicts who are fighting through a zombie Apocalypse. Basically.

Normally people would think that the druggies would get infected first right? So Peter TOTALLY flips that around and says, "A hell no, the healthy people are going to get it this time."

On top of that, I just love how he writes about the zombies, now don't worry I won't spoil anything! But if you're into the whole zombie Apocalypse thing, you should TOTALLY take a look at this book!

If you've read it, or once you're done reading it, or are still reading it. Why not take a minute to comment your thoughts on the story? I'm sure everyone would love to see what you think! I know I would, and who knows maybe even Peter Stenson will see it!

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *~ * ~ * ~

I finished it!

Personally I would have to give this novel a three out of five stars.

Firstly it was an okay read, but there were a lot of things in the novel that left me saying, "What the hell was that?" or "Did that really just happen?"

Secondly as it gets closer to the end, it gets even more confusing and I swear you just get tied in a knot.

Lastly, personally I don't think that the idea of Meth being the only thing to "keep you alive" was a good message in this story. Though then again, of course, you see that Meth is totally horrible, and will destroy your life if you use it. But in that kind of situation where you have to take a hit just to survive another day? Ah, not my kind of book.

The kind of books that I like, which talk about that kind of thing, are the Ellen Hopkins books. I'm not sure exactly whhhyy... but hey I like them, and own just about every one she's written. Oh yes!

Stay tuned for September Reading!

So I have decided to make something bright and colourful to light up my summer! So with a quick trip to the wonderfully amazing store of
I found this amazingly RAINBOWTASTIC yarn!

This is a Red Heart Comfort Brand.
It's a medium weight yarn

(4), best used on 4.5mm or 7 US knitting needles, or a 5.5mm crochet hook.
The yarn is machine washable, but must be washed in a delicate cycle with lukewarm water. It is also machine dryer safe on a delicate cycle.

The ball itself only cost me $10.14 (with tax included) for a 340 g/12 oz ball which holds 593 m.649 yds, although the price may vary depending on where you purchase it from.
The material used in the yarn is 100% acrylic.

The pattern I used is SUPER easy! Anyone could do it!

The wrap itself has what's called a "salvage edge" which basically means there's a boarder.

YOU CAN USE ANY YARN FOR THIS PROJECT!
Though you might have to up your needle size, depending on the weight.

I used the yarn above, and size 6.5 mm circular or round needles.
